The Akitas

Kazumi

This little adorable akita puppy will grow into an 80 to 100 pound dog.

Akitas are not merely dogs.  They are truly members of the family.  These are not dogs for anyone who does not have time to spend with their dogs or for anyone without a firm hand.

KogaAkitas need to recognize the people as alpha.  They should not be backyard dogs.  No dog should, really, but akitas, in particular, suffer from being left outside away from their family.

Akitas are often dog aggressive.  And they, like all dogs, are wolves, only partially civilized.  Training is very important to any dog that will be around small, tasty, animals.

And they can be food possessive.

But, with training, consistent good reinforcement, and access to their people, these are perhaps one of the best dog breeds I’ve ever met.
